It’s all about the details

Tension Astor can get quite tense when we’re riding outside. I believe it’s because of the busy surroundings and colourful poles. To make him relaxed it’s important that we as riders maintain calm when our horses are tense. I can be tense too, so what I use to do is repeat these words to myself - calm, patience, gentle - over and over again, and as I do so I just keep riding him forward, making a lot of transitions as I ride between the scary poles. This helps me focus, and eventually it will make Astor focus as well. I hopp this could be of help!
