A crew change is a great achievement these days. Our Human Resources department have been working day and night to make it possible for our sailors to get home to their families. Our Instagram account normally travels between the vessels, and during the upcoming weeks it will be in the hands of a boat that doesn’t yet exist. Here is the short version on why we design wind powered vessels (also called wPCC).

Powered by wind, Oceanbird will transport 7,000 cars across the oceans with 90% reduced emissions compared to the most energy-efficient vessel today. Together with KTH and SSPA, we are designing the world’s largest sailing ship. When it’s launched, possibly in the end of 2024, it will be able to cross the Atlantic in 12 days. It will be 200 metres long and 40 metres wide. The wing sails are all of 80 metres tall, giving the ship a height above water line of approx. 105 metr...es, but thanks to a telescopic construction they can be lowered, resulting in a vessel height above water line of approx 45 metres. https://www.oceanbirdwallenius.com/
