The Swenglish Cottage

The #EPI’s most recent report ranked #Sweden in the Top 5 most #sustainable countries, out of 180! The report uses #performance metrics organized under the following categories: #air quality; #water and #sanitation; heavy #metals; #biodiversity and habitat; #forests; fisheries; #climate and #energy; air #pollution; #water resources; and #agriculture. We are super #proud to be living in such an sustainably driven #country where all of the #electric used at The Swenglish Cottage is 100% #fossilfree. Along with our #geothermal heating system and water supply direct from our own garden #well, we are able to maintain a sustainable stay for all our #guests.

A little trip out this #morning with the smallest member of our #tribe to recycle our most recent #guests empty bottles at our local PANT station #Sweden recycles over 90% of all its used #plastic bottles and metal drinks cans. This is largely due to the PANT scheme, where we can visit deposit machines in #local supermarkets and #recycle all of our old plastic #bottles and drinks cans in return for #compensation, that we can later spend towards their next shop.

We are so #grateful to host such #genuine, #kind and #happy #guests. Matt stayed with us for 8 days to get an #insight into the #Swedish way of life. Torpa Stenhus is beautifully situated by the lake Åsunden. With its #unique architecture and beautiful #interiors, the #castle is one of Sweden's best-preserved #manors from the 16th century. The estate is privately owned and has been owned by the same family since the end of the 15th century. Located only 20mins drive away Torpa Stenhus is a perfect day out. #history #explore #walk #lakes #forest #spirt #explore
