In the south of Namibia, near the town of Keetmanshoop, lies a forest, a special forest with special trees. The forest contains 250 specimens of the Aloidendron dichotomum, a species that is better known as the Quiver Tree, because bushmen traditionally used its branches to make quivers. Today in Sweden we celebrate the Lucia tradition, to bring light into the darkest time of the year. In honor of Lucia I post this photo of the beautiful warm morning light I caught in the NamibRand Nature Reserve. October 2019 - NamibRand, Namibia

When the first light of the day hits the white clay of Deadvlei it creates a kind of second light source, illuminating the dead camel thorn trees (Vachellia erioloba or Acacia erioloba) from beneath. It makes them stand out gracefully against the enormous sand dunes in the back. October 2019 - Deadvlei, Namibia
