This paper demonstrates that it is possible to assemble nanoparticles into wires and trusses also when using a two-phase material where only one component is magnetic. This dramatically widens the possibilities to design new catalytically active nanostructures.

Bipolar HiPIMS, that combine the negatives HiPIMS pulse with a positive pulse, is at present a hot research topic. The use of the positive pulse result in acceleration of ions of the deposition material which allow the engineering of the properties of the growing film without using a substrate bias voltage. This paper sort out the best way to apply the two pulses to optimize the fraction of ions that are indeed accelerated. https://doi.org/10.1088/1361-6595/abc6f6
