On the last Tuesday in February every year, Swedes gather for a well deserved Semla! Semlor are cardamom buns with almond paste and whipped cream, although in recent years numerous alterations have been made with Nutella, chocolate and so on. Nevertheless, we stick to the real deal! So today Team NoroGard gathered for some fika in the spirit of semlor!

13th December is a special day in Sweden and stands for a tradition that goes way back in time, all the way to 14th century. But like most Swedish traditions, it's more about the 'How' than the 'Why'. So on 13th December we celebrate Lucia (from Italian Saint Lucia) with a choir dressed in lights and white gowns sing Christmas songs, and Christmas treats are served. Glögg (spiced red wine, drank warm), gingerbread and lussekatter (saffron buns). It is a very popular traditio...n where choirs are formed for all ages and we devour in Christmas fika. At NoroGard we thought it might be in the interest of everyone that we skip out on the singing, and jump straight to the fika. This Friday was therefore kicked off with a lussekatt and some Christmas music, before the NoroGard elves went back into the workshop to finalise the last orders before Christmas! #GrowingStronger

On the small island Jeju, south of Korea, you'll find Jenong Seed. During Ketty's and Jesper's journey through Korea, they spent some great days with the team at Jenong Seed. A start-up was carried out for their R534 Batch seed treater as well as operator training, so that Section Chief Dai-Sik Jung feels 100% confident in working with his new treater. Mr. Jung is born and raised on the island, where he still lives and works at Jenong Seed since he finished his education. Gre...at to meet people who feel so passionate about their profession! Jenong Seed also got to try out the newly launched NoroGard Excellence Build Up Powder for pelleting. As trials were run with the powder and the R534 batch seed treater, Mr. Jung as well as company president Tae-Hyung Kim were very pleased with the uniform result of the pelleted seed as well as the seed treater. It's always great being able to meet the people who use our products in their daily work, and get to know them in person. Now we’re off for some well deserved Easter holiday with family! We gathered the team for some ‘Landgång’ (basically a sandwich with everything delicious on it) and ‘Fika’ to celebrate Easter and yet another productive week in the NoroGard workshop! So far, Covid-19 haven’t reached us and we can keep up our work like always! So after some rest, production will be up and running again on Tuesday! Until then, take care of yourself and your close ones!

SWEDISH MIDSUMMER’s EVE Today is the Swede’s favourite day, - Midsummers eve! Today marks the longest day of the year, and the shortest night. This, we celebrate by raising a maypole decorated with flowers and dance around it. We eat herring and fresh potatoes, and strawberry cakes for dessert. We make flower wreaths to put on our heads and the tradition says you should pick 7 different kinds of flowers and put them under your pillow. We drink snaps and sing snapsvisor (snaps songs). Today many Northern Europeans celebrate midsummer, all countries in different ways. But for Swedes, this is an amazing day to celebrate summer!

The sun is shining at the NoroGard site and our service team have just finished off two days in Slovakia with a start-up of their new R800 Batch treater. The team at Saatbau are now up and running with their batch treater, and NoroGard and Westrup A/S have completed yet another successful project together!
