We are very excited to announce the second of our upcoming exhibitions ‘Shoulder pipe forgiveness claw’ by British artist Ross Taylor. Shown within gallery II, the exhibition presents an installation featuring a series of new paintings completed over the past year shown alongside two in situ wall paintings. Tis is Taylor’s second solo exhibition with the gallery . Opening Saturday 27 November 2021 12 - 4pm . I am trying to create an atmosphere in my workWithin the surface,... there is always an allusion to another space, I want them to act as a rendering of an emotional placeThe speed, or should I say, slowness of the surface demands attention. . Taylor’s work reveals the artist and his inner world of personal stories and fictional characters developed within the realm of his London studio. The studio itself is a special and extra-ordinary place, a fabulous cave which at the same time both feeds and consumes the artist’s work. Of course there are issues, topics and conversations that follow him in, but most of what he makes happens there and then, in that specific period of time and space within those four walls. The title Shoulder pipe forgiveness claw can be viewed as a lyrical description of the arm of the artist; an apparatus of limited commutative properties, ritualistically tapping and scratchingall day. We are very excited to announce the first of our upcoming exhibitions. ‘Rapture’, a duo exhibition featuring the work of Takuro Kuwata and Anton Alvarez. The exhibition offers the viewers a rare opportunity to inhabit a fantastical world created by these boundary pushing artists and experience the work of two sculptors at the vey forefront of the development of new ceramic traditions. . Opening Saturday 27 November 2021 12 - 4pm . Takuro Kuwata (b.1981 Hiroshima, Japan) is ...renowned for his innovative, contemporary approach to ceramics. With subtle nods to tradition and function, his experimental processes create artwork as conceptual as they are striking. Creating his ceramics in a highly colourful visual palette, Kuwata produces fractured forms, vivid glazes, metallic embellishments and glistening droplets that congeal on the surfaces of his sculptures. By both exploring and breaking the rules Kuwata has become one of the most intriguing artistic voices transforming the ceramic medium working today. This is the first time Kuwata’s work is presented in Sweden . Anton Alvarez (b.1980 Uppsala, Sweden) has made art-producing machines for more than a decade, with his sculptural forms exploring the relationship between human creation and mechanical apparatus. By subverting traditional expectations of ceramic making, Alvarez’s extruded sculptures both advance technological innovation while at the same time utilise traditional craftsmanship. Alvarez does not want to be able to imagine the final result. Through each works creation, Alvarez seeks the unexpected, to be surprised by the process and ultimately, faced with something that he has never encountered before .
