Today is INTERNATIONAL WOMAN'S DAY! A day that has been celebrated since 1911! A day to recognise how far we have come with gender based equality and the accomplishments we have made and yet how far we still have to go. #ChooseToChallenge #iwd2021 A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.... Today starts the 16 days of human rights activism to stop Gender based Violence in 2020! Today is a Day we would usually be marching the streets to Stand up and Speak out about Family and Domestic Violence! It is also White Ribbon Day (Australia's only Male led movement to end violence against women and children!) Due to Covid19 we are unable to do so! Violence is not tolerated in our community or any community! More than 1 woman some children a week are murdered at the han...ds of a former or current partner! 1 in 4 woman will experience some form of Violence in their life! These are alarming statistics! 1 dead woman is too many! Violence is a choice! People are not born violent! It is learned behaviour and it's a choice! It's up to all of us to put an end to violence! You will be talking with trained councilors who can help you! 2020 has been a particularly hard year for families currently living with violence!
